2017 Annual Meeting – International Social Philosophy Conference

For the July 2017 conference, three local housing options are recommended.

Attendees looking to secure lodging farther away from campus are encouraged to select a property that is close to a stop on the ‘Red Line’ of Chicago’s public transportation system otherwise known as the L or EL. (for ‘elevated train’).

(1) Hampton Inn Loyola Station (a Hilton property). 1209 W. Albion Ave., Chicago 60626.
Call reservations at 1 800 426-7866 and refer to room block ‘NASSP’ or book on line through
the following link: http://group.hamptoninn.com/nassp

$189.00 per night, for July 12 and 13 (Wednesday and Thursday nights)
$218.00 per night for July 14 and 15 (Friday and Saturday nights).
— There is a two night minimum for any reservation that includes Friday night.

Of note:

This Hampton Inn has been open less than a year. It is across the street from the NW
corner of Loyola’s lakeside campus. It is also the equivalent of 2-3 blocks from the
rooms in which the conference’s sessions likely will be held, and approximately 1 long
block from the Loyola EL Red-Line stop (that is, from the stop on Chicago’s public rail
transportation system, known as the EL).

The rate includes a hot breakfast, in-room coffee and free WIFI. There is a work-out
room and ample social meeting space. There is not a pool, but the sandy shores of Lake
Michigan are a mere two blocks East from the Inn.

Hilton properties can only set aside 10 rooms at a time for discounted rates unless a
group signs a contract to pay for X rooms and NASSAP can’t do that. So, members
attending the conference are strongly encouraged to book rooms now, using the NASSP
discount. Once the initial 10 rooms are booked, another 10 rooms will be requested, then
another, etc.. However, as the Inn approaches maximum capacity, the discounted rates
may no longer be available on Friday and Saturday.

(2) The Flats at Loyola Station (312) 508-0200. Across the street from the University and next
to the Loyola EL Red-line stop. One bedroom, fully equipped apartments, including a queen bed
and a sofa bed. $190 per night plus tax, with a 15% discount when one notes that one is
attending a conference on campus.

(3) Dormitory rooms on campus.  (773) 508-8090, or on line at lodging.luc.edu.      Booking code: NASSP17   12 one bedroom and 2 2-bedroom units (all with private baths) have been set aside for NASSP in Fordam Hall.  (More rooms can be found, if needed.)  Rates:$100 for single occupancy, $150 for double occupancy, or $219 per night for the two bedroom apartments, plus tax (17.4%).
